Michigan State associate head coach Mark Montgomery has accepted the Northern Illinois job.

According to sources, Montgomery met with the Northern Illinois administration today and took the job.

Montgomery played at Michigan State and joined the staff in 2001. He was promoted to associate head coach by Tom Izzo in 2007.
