Princeton's Johnson to Fairfield
Sydney Johnson’s name has been mentioned for the last couple weeks. First it was at Bradley, then Towson and finally the Princeton coach has taken a new gig – at Fairfield.
FOXSports.com has confirmed reports that Johnson will replace Ed Cooley, who left for Providence.
Johnson takes over a team that’s favored to win the MAAC after going 25-8 last season and winning the regular-season title.
The Stags return Derek Needham and also will have BC transfer Rakim Sanders and Houston transfer Desmond Wade eligible this season.
Princeton was 25-7 this past season and beat Harvard in a one-game playoff to make its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2004.
Johnson was 66-53 overall in his tenure at his alma mater.
