Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. has set the record for the largest contract guarantee for one fight in boxing history.

Mayweather will set the record with a guaranteed $32 million for his junior middleweight title challenge from Miguel Cotto on May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Mayweather's deal will pass the previous largest guarantee of $30 million, which Mike Tyson received when he fought Evander Holyfield in 1997.  The heavyweight championship rematch is remembered mostly by the infamous ear-bite Tyson gave Holyfield.

Golden Boy promotions is the company responsible for the guaranteed money and CEO Richard Schaefer told ESPN "Floyd is in a league of his own."

Mayweather will also make money on the profits made from pay-per-view.

Miguel Cotto will earn a career-best $8 million plus profits made from pay-per-view sales.
