Dontrez Styles announces next visit, commitment date
USA TODAY Sports

The recruiting process for former UNC guard Dontrez Styles is approaching its end.

Styles told On3 on Sunday evening that he'll visit Georgetown on Thursday and announce his commitment on April 9.

The former four-star out of Kinston, North Carolina entered the transfer portal on March 17 after two seasons with the Tar Heels. He averaged only 5.8 minutes per game playing behind R.J. Davis and Leaky Black and appeared in just 15 of North Carolina's 33 games in the 2022-23 season.

Styles' most memorable minutes in Chapel Hill were during the team's historic tournament run in 2022. In the first round against Marquette, he went 3-3 from the floor and grabbed six rebounds. Then, he stepped up in the second round against Baylor, playing all five minutes of overtime after Brady Manek and Caleb Love fouled out and finishing with a season high of nine points and two steals.

The 6-foot-6 guard known for his athleticism and shot-making ability has heard from a plethora of schools, including West Virginia, LSU and ACC rival N.C. State. He visited the Wolfpack on March 27.

Styles has multiple years of eligibility left. Should he join the Hoyas, he'll join a program coming off a disappointing 7-25 season and starting fresh with a new head coach in Ed Cooley. With all of his options, where will he play next?
