Former South Carolina Gamecocks guard Sindarius Thornwell announced that will continue his playing career in Russia.

“Russia here I come!” he tweeted.

He has signed with BC Avtodor. The team’s current roster features 2012 MAAC Player of the Year Scott Machado and 2018 Big 12 Tournament MVP Malik Newman.

Thornwell is one of the greatest players in Gamecocks’ history. He led the team to the Final Four in 2017, averaging 21.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals. During the campaign, he became the first player in program history to win SEC Player of the Year, and he broke school single-season records for PER (30.3), win shares (7.2), and box plus/minus (17.1).

Thornwell played 160 total games in the NBA. His most notable stint came with the Los Angeles Clippers. He made 18 starts for the franchise.

In 2022, he played for Frutti Extra Bursaspor in Turkey.
