George Washington men's basketball remains idle, now due to COVID-19

Members of the George Washington Colonials men's basketball team are having a week they'd likely prefer to forget.

George Washington confirmed on Friday afternoon that it is temporarily pausing basketball-related activities following the discovery of a positive COVID-19 test result among a Tier 1 staff member within the traveling party. As a result, Saturday's game against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies has been postponed.

"In accordance with guidelines, policy and protocols, all Tier 1 personnel are now undergoing additional testing and contact tracing," the Colonials said in their prepared statement. "Until the additional testing and contact tracing is completed, all program activity will be paused. No determination has been made on future games following tomorrow's postponed contest."

George Washington was scheduled to host the UMass Minutemen this past Wednesday but had that game scrapped because of the violence that occurred at the U.S. Capitol as lawmakers were attempting to confirm President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election.

The Colonials haven't competed since earning a 75-73 win over the Duquesne Dukes last Sunday to improve to 3-7 on the year. George Washington is set to host the VCU Rams next Wednesday.
