Alabama WR Jameson Williams taken to locker room with knee injury

The Alabama Crimson Tide were already without John Metchie III in the College Football Playoff national championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs and lost their other star wide receiver, Jameson Williams, before halftime.

Williams, 20, suffered what appeared to be a knee injury without contact from a Georgia defender after hauling in a 40-yard pass down the middle of the field early in the second quarter.

Williams was helped to the sideline and evaluated in a medical tent. He later made his way to the locker room unassisted.

Metchie suffered a torn ACL during Alabama's 41-24 win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. He too went down in the second quarter with a non-contact injury.

Metchie and Williams have combined for more than 2,700 receiving yards this season with 23 touchdown receptions. No other player on the Crimson Tide roster entered the CFP national championship with more than 400 receiving yards this season.
