Boston College OL Christian Mahogany likely to miss 2022 season with ACL tear

Boston College star offensive lineman Christian Mahogany expects to miss the entire 2022 season due to an ACL tear, he revealed to ESPN's Pete Thamel on Thursday.

In May, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. ranked Mahogany as the second-best offensive guard prospect of the 2023 NFL Draft. The injury will likely remove him from that draft class, as the redshirt junior told ESPN that he plans to return to play for BC in 2023.

"I think I'm probably going to come back because it's hard [after an injury]," Mahogany said, via ESPN. "I'm going to leave no doubt on my college career. Especially after an injury like this, I'm going to prove that I can still do it."

The 6-foot-3, 335-pound interior lineman earned Second-Team All-ACC honors as a sophomore. Mahogany was a rare bright spot on an offense that finished 103rd out of 130 FBS teams in offensive yards per game in 2021.

Following the loss of Mahogany, Boston College will have five new starters along the offensive line in 2022 with four career starts between the five projected starters. In the 2022 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers selected Boston College guard Zion Johnson with the No. 17 overall pick.
