CFB analyst makes bold claim about Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders

Colorado quarterback Sheduer Sanders was marvelous in the Buffaloes' 43-35 double-overtime win over in-state rival Colorado State.

Every time Colorado needed a big play, Sanders made it. He stood tall in the pocket and took shot after shot from an amped-up Colorado State team, and ultimately, he led the Buffaloes to a 3-0 record and increased the already oversized hype surrounding his dad's — Deion Sanders — program.

Sanders completed 38-of-47 passes for 348 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He was clutch. So clutch, in fact, that national college football analyst Joel Klatt thinks he's the most clutch player in the country.

“The last couple of minutes roll around for Colorado and Colorado State’s coaches begin to make mistakes, and Shedeur Sanders becomes the most clutch player in college football. And you know what? That’s not debatable. That is also a fact,” Klatt said on his Monday show (h/t On3).

Down 28-17 early in the fourth quarter, Sanders orchestrated a comeback that culminated with a 45-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Horn Jr. and a two-point conversation pass to Michael Harrison to tie the game and force overtime with 36 seconds left. 

It was a game-tying drive that started at Colorado's two-yard line.

He then went 4-for-6 with two touchdown passes in overtime. 

As mentioned, Sanders was incredible against Colorado State, but Klatt did some digging and found out that Sanders has completed 84% of his passes in the fourth quarter this season. It hasn't just been a one-time thing.

“Shedeur Sanders led three straight touchdown drives against TCU, and in every one of those drives, Colorado had a deficit. They had to score touchdowns against Nebraska. It was a tight game. They scored on seven of their last eight drives. Against Colorado State, [Sanders] scored on his final three drives of regulation, field goal, field goal, touchdown,” Klatt explained. “He’s the most clutch player in college football. He played his best ball when his best was needed. That’s what great players do.”
