ESPN College GameDay Lands Oklahoma Legend for Saturday Picks Segment
USA TODAY Sports

Baker Mayfield has a pretty good resume.

He won a Heisman Trophy, owns three Big 12 Conference championships and was the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

But the two-time Burlsworth Award winner as college football's best walk-on has apparently always felt like something was missing.

That will be remedied this week as Mayfield will be the celebrity guest picker on ESPN's "College GameDay," which airs right before his Oklahoma Sooners take on No. 3-ranked Texas in the annual Red River Rivalry game in Dallas.

"Hey everybody, got some big news," Mayfield said in a video on social media Thursday. "Some of the biggest news of my life, that's for sure. Saturday morning, 11:30 Eastern, gonna be on ESPN's 'College GameDay' with the fellas. Gonna be guest picking."

Mayfield, who grew up an OU fan in Austin, has never hid his disdain for the Longhorn program. In 2018, he returned to Norman for a basketball game and ended a press conference by talking about how much he dislikes Texas.

"Not so fast my friend," Mayfield added. "Boomer Sooner this weekend. It's a big game. We got 'em."

OU (5-0 overall, 2-0 Big 12 Conference) is a 6 1/2-point underdog to UT (5-0, 2-0).
