Florida State Seminoles QB Jordan Travis Receives Major Injury Update
Morgan Tencza-USA TODAY Sports

Numerous former members of the Florida State Seminoles’ roster have their sights set on hearing their names called during the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. However, before the draft selections commence in April, there is a series of crucial events such as all-star games, workouts, and the combine where potential prospects have the opportunity to solidify their positions.

On a recent Thursday morning, the East-West Shrine Bowl revealed that Jordan Travis, the former star quarterback for the Seminoles, has accepted an invitation to participate in this prestigious event.

Eric Galko, the Director of Football Operations for the game, expressed his excitement about hosting Travis in Dallas, stating, “Jordan is on his way to getting back to 100%, and we’re thankful we can help him take advantage of our best-in-class NFL interview process to show scouts, coaches, and GMs who he is.”

Although Travis is still in the process of recovering from a season-ending leg injury, the extent of his participation during the week remains uncertain. Nevertheless, he has been diligently working on his rehabilitation, and his strong work ethic on and off the field is widely recognized. Travis won’t be the sole former Seminole representing at the Shrine Bowl, as cornerback Renardo Green and cornerback Jarrian Jones have also accepted their invitations.

Jordan Travis concluded a remarkable career in Tallahassee, setting several program records, including total offense, total touchdowns, QB rushing yards, and QB rushing touchdowns. He also ranked second in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and wins as a starter. In recognition of his outstanding performance, Travis was named the ACC Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2023.

Throughout his six years at the college level, Travis appeared in 49 games, making 38 starts. He completed 637 out of 1,027 passes for a total of 8,715 yards, amassing 66 touchdowns while limiting interceptions to just 20. In addition to his passing prowess, Travis rushed 417 times for 1,950 yards, scoring 31 touchdowns, and even contributed with three receptions for 11 yards and a touchdown.

Among other notable players from around the country who have accepted invitations to the Shrine Bowl are Kentucky quarterback Devin Leary, Louisville running back Jawhar Jordan, Florida offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun, and LSU defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson.

Furthermore, in addition to the Shrine Bowl, other all-star games will showcase talent from Florida State. Wide receiver Johnny Wilson, tight end Jaheim Bell, and defensive tackle Braden Fiske are set to participate in the Senior Bowl.

This year’s East-West Shrine Bowl marks its 99th edition and is scheduled to take place at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas on February 1. Football enthusiasts can catch the action on the NFL Network as these aspiring athletes strive to make their mark on the gridiron.
