Former Ohio State HC gives Jim Harbaugh, Michigan credit

Urban Meyer was the head coach at Ohio State from 2012-18, winning a championship with the Buckeyes in 2014-15.

He's got history with the Buckeyes. Immense history. That makes anything he says about "the team up north" notable, but he's got nothing but praise for Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and his 6-0, No. 2 ranked Wolverines right now.

Yes, Michigan's schedule has been less than tough, with matchups against East Carolina, UNLV, Bowling Green and Rutgers to start the season, but the Wolverines have looked good.

They're also 3-0 against Big Ten opponents so far, with two wins in a row coming on the road. They beat Nebraska, 45-7 and then went to Minnesota and rocked the Golden Gophers, 52-10.

In all, Michigan has looked dominant.

“There’s a lot to be said to that and that means your team [is] well coached, your team [is] prepared, and there must be really good leadership on the team," Meyer recently told On3, referencing Harbaugh's Wolverines. They’ve got at very veteran team and they’re doing it very impressively."

To Meyer's point, though Michigan's strength of schedule has left something to be desired, the Wolverines have in no way played down to their opponents. In fact, they've outscored the competition 224-40 so far.

Michigan's defense is ranked No. 3 in all of college football, giving up only 233.3 yards per game, and they're 37.3 points per game scored in second in the Big Ten behind Penn State.

Speaking of the Nittany Lions, though Meyer is high on the Wolverines, he thinks the true test of Michigan's abilities will come against two opponents: At Penn State in mid-November and against Ohio State to end the season.

Penn State is currently 5-0 and ranked No. 6 nationally. OSU is 5-0 and ranked No. 3 behind Michigan.
