Iowa suffered a blow to their offense, with quarterback Cade McNamara hitting the shelf for the remainder of the season after he suffered a leg injury against Michigan State. As we saw in the 31-0 loss to Penn State, it looks like it’ll be up to former Wisconsin Badgers QB Deacon Hill for the remainder of the schedule the Iowa Hawkeyes have.

Deacon Hill and the Wisconsin Badgers

Deacon Hill was a 4-star QB out of high school, with most publications rating him as a 3-star recruit. He ended up committing to the Wisconsin Badgers, but the marriage didn’t last for long. He originally committed to play for QB Coach Jon Budmayr, but he left Wisconsin to take the Offensive Coordinator opening at Colorado State before HIll even had a chance to play for the Badgers.

Ultimately, Hill had redshirted his true freshman season and didn’t record any stats last year before Head Coach Paul Chryst was let go. Deacon Hill entered the transfer portal and committed to Iowa, following Jon Budmayr, who took a job as an Offensive Analyst for the Hawkeyes.

Deacon Hill takes over in Iowa, being left in decent standings within the Big Ten West. They’re 1-1 in Big Ten play and 4-1 overall. Hill will lead Iowa when they come to Madison to face the Wisconsin Badgers on October 14th, which could be a potentially pivotal matchup in the Big Ten.
