However, after just one season and some concerns regarding his work ethic, the former five-star Colorado cornerback will now look for a new home, having entered the spring transfer portal earlier this week.

Upon entry, the talented rising sophomore was immediately looked at as one of the top players available, ranking No. 3 among uncommitted players and No. 22 overall, according to 247Sports.

Heading into the 2024 spring transfer portal window, no one was exactly sure what to expect from coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers. Ahead of the 2024 National L-Club Spring Game, the purple and gold head coach made it clear that he planned to pursue defensive tackles, but that was about it.

Now, just one week later, we know that while defensive tackle was bound to be the priority, the Tigers aren’t exactly afraid to go after other positions when the value and potential is there.

According to On3, since entering the spring transfer portal, former five-star Colorado cornerback Cormani McClain has heard from 11 schools, which just so happens to include that of the LSU Tigers.

As a freshman in 2023, the 6-foot-2, 165-pound Lakeland, FL, product showed flashes, but struggled to stay on the field consistently. Even so, in his six appearances, the talented first year managed to record 13 total tackles and two passes defended.

While the work ethic concerns are something to keep an eye on, if coach Brian Kelly and his new defensive coaching staff can manage to keep him in check and willing to put the work in, bringing a talented five-star defender into the program has the potential to be game changing.

For now, keep a close eye on Georgia, UCF, USC and USF as potential landing spots for the talented rising sophomore.
