The Michigan Wolverines‘ Rose Bowl matchup against No. 4 Alabama (College Football Playoff semo-final) is in just over three weeks, and while the team is hard at work prepping for the crucial contest against the Crimson Tide, it lost a player to the transfer portal on Monday morning. Michigan football running back CJ Stokes, a sophomore RB for the Maize and Blue, is in search of a new home.

Michigan football running back CJ Stokes enters NCAA transfer portal

Over the past few seasons, the Michigan football running back room has been nothing short of elite, and next year, that trend will likely remain consistent. Despite the fact that stars like Blake Corum — and perhaps Donovan Edwards, too — are leaving, Michigan has players like Ben Hall , Kalel Mullings, and more rising through the ranks and ready to take over.

While CJ Stokes showed some signs of potential greatness during his tenure in the Maize and Blue, largely when Blake Corum got hurt in 2022, he is still pretty far down on the depth chart. Because of this, it appears that he will be transferring from Michigan football, according to an announcement from On3 on Monday morning.

During his Michigan football career, CJ Stokes appeared in 13 games across two seasons, carrying the ball 59 times for 281 yards (4.1 yards per carry) and a touchdown.
