Amid rumors surrounding many players' futures with the program, Texas A&M Aggies star wide receiver Evan Stewart will reportedly not play for the team in their regular season finale vs. the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge.
Per On3 College Football insider Matt Zenitz, Stewart did not travel with the team to Baton Rouge.
Stewart has played in just eight games this season and has missed two of the last three games for the Aggies, including both of their matchups with Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Stewart returned vs. Abilene Christian last Saturday but made just one catch for eight yards in the contest.
On the season Stewart has made 38 catches for 514 yards and four touchdowns - he is second on the team in all three categories.
Perhaps the most high-profile player on the entire Texas A&M roster, Stewart came to the Aggies as the No. 1 player in Texas, the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation, and the No. 8 overall player in the nation, per the On3 industry ranking.
He was also the headline player in the Aggies' historic 2022 recruiting class, which ranked No. 1 all-time by multiple recruiting services, and picked the Aggies over Texas, Alabama, and Georgia.
A one-time Texas Longhorns commit, Stewart de-committed from the Horns in March of 2021, just two months after the hiring of Steve Sarkisian.
Stewart then committed to the Aggies just before the 2022 Early Signing Period on Nov. 29, and eventually signed his letter of intent on Dec 16.
He went on to have a tremendous freshman campaign, making 53 catches for 649 yards and two touchdowns.
