South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler was named the MVP of the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday afternoon after turning in a standout performance in a losing effort for the American squad.
Rattler’s arm talent was on full display as he hooked up with former Georgia wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint for a 29-yard touchdown in the contest.
“Felt good. Got the look we wanted,” Rattler said in an on-field interview after the game. “Great receiver out wide. They played one-on-one. I just put it up, he made a great play.”
Rattler also made several other impressive plays, reminding many why he was once considered a potential Heisman Trophy candidate. His career, of course, didn’t play out quite that way at South Carolina, but he’s still got strong pro prospects.
The honor of being named the MVP will only reaffirm that for him.
“It means a lot,” Rattler said. “We’ve put in a lot of hard work this week. Not just for me, this is for the American squad. Fought our butts off today and had a great week with the guys.”
On3 will have more on this developing story shortly.
