Travis Hunter named to ESPN's ‘Way-Too-Early All-America team for 2024’

With the college football season now three weeks behind us, it’s never too early to start looking ahead to this fall. ESPN senior writer Chris Low did just that by releasing his ‘Way-to-Early college football All-America team for 2024’ on Tuesday. One of those who made Low’s first-team defense was Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter. 

Despite missing three games due to injury, Hunter was dominant on both sides of the ball last season. In nine games at cornerback, he finished with 30 total tackles, three interceptions and five pass break-ups. At wide receiver, Hunter had 57 receptions for 721 yards and five touchdowns. As a result of his play, Hunter became the 31^st consensus All-American in CU history and first since offensive tackle Nate Solder in 2010. The artist also known as 'Saucy-T' was named the 2023 Paul Hornung Award winner.

Colorado coach Deion Sanders called Hunter a "generational player" last year, and Sanders should know. A two-way player for the Buffaloes, Hunter played more snaps from scrimmage (566 on defense and 436 on offense) than anybody in college football. Despite missing three games with an injury, Hunter had three interceptions and has the skills to lock down any receiver in the country.

Low also listed Hunter on his second-team for the All-Purpose position behind Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. Ohio State led the way with four first-team selections on his way-too-early All-America team. Georgia and defending champion Michigan each had three.
