The word "independent" refers to being free of any control or influence, and it's an aspect of life that everyone should accomplish. Being independent can help boost confidence, self-esteem, and creativity and lead to better decision-making. There is no doubt that having a good circle of people around is important, but there are plenty of times when people have to rely on themselves.
