21 actors who, surprisingly, haven’t been in a superhero movie yet

If someone were to throw a rock in a room full of actors, it would likely hit someone who has appeared in a superhero movie. This wasn’t always the case, but ever since Blade helped save Marvel and movies like X-Men and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, the box office has been one heroic tale after the other. Of course, this means there aren’t many actors who are likely to turn down the chance to play a comic book character on the big screen. However, some have either said no, not had the time, or just not been given the chance yet. Below is a list of actors who, surprisingly, haven’t been in a superhero movie yet.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston and the rest of the cast of Friends are financially set for the rest of her life. So it’s not shocking that she hasn’t done one of those huge blockbusters, but at the same time, it would be nice to see Rachel Green in one of the superhero realms.

Tom Cruise

If superhero movies had started being made at the level they are now back in the early ‘90s, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Tom Cruise would not have been the Chris Evans of his day. However, they came later, and because of that, one of Hollywood’s most notable men was out, but in reality, many could see him possibly stepping into Gotham. Not as Batman, but perhaps one of his many foes?

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer has said herself she wants to be Rogue from X-Men , so someone should get in touch with Kevin Feige over at Marvel and make it happen.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t seem to be the type to do silly, so any movie that fell into this genre would have to be directed by the likes of Tarantino or Spielberg, and the likelihood of that happening is slim, but fans can dream.

Winona Ryder

Winona Ryder’s Stranger Things costar David Harbour was in Black Widow, so why not have everyone’s favorite ‘80s darling get up in the world saving, or perhaps she could be one of the bad guys?

Dev Patel

Are they still wondering who should play Reed Richards? Because the answer is clear: Dev Patel.

Hunter Schafer

Hunter Schafer
Anthony Behar/Sipa USA

Euphoria might be one of the wildest things on television at the moment, but one thing’s for sure: That cast is exceptionally talented, including Hunter Schafer. She would shine as part of an ensemble in X-Men or Guardians of the Galaxy. Maybe even start small and appear on The Boys first?

David Tennant

David Tennant is already beloved in the geek community for being Doctor Who, and that’s why it’s shocking he hasn’t played something like a scientist turned evil or a side character that perhaps pops up for a few seconds and then vanishes a la Suıcide Squad.

Thandiwe Newton

Thandiwe Newton
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA

Thandiwe Newton was phenomenal in Westworld and was a scene stealer (even if for a mere moment) in Star Wars, so the next logical step would be to cast her in a big-budget superhero movie where she can shine even more.

Jeremy Allen White
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA

What’s that saying? Strike while the iron is hot? Well, it’s not getting any hotter than The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White right now. His presence in a movie would get people in seats.

Leslie Mann

Leslie Mann has proved to have great chemistry with Paul Rudd, so the fact that she hasn’t had a cameo in any of the Ant-Man movies is odd.

Ryan Gosling

There is nothing that Ryan Gosling can’t do. He is and will forever be Kenough.

Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA

Rashida Jones has done a lot of great work on TV, but when it comes to movies, she sort of stays near the more centered in reality movies, so that may be why she hasn’t dove into the fantasy world of Caped Crusaders, but it would be awesome to see her in the DC realm that James Gunn is building.

Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet made a quick name for himself with Ladybird and Call Me By Your Name, but his performance in Wonka makes it seem like he’s ready to dive into roles that allow him to show off more of his range.

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter lives her life as a kooky comic book character, so there’s no excuse why that woman has yet to be cast in one of the dozens upon dozens of superhero movies that have been released.

Jacob Elordi

Hollywood has told the story of Batman so many times, but what’s one more with Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi as a young Bruce Wayne?

Olivia Cooke

Olivia Cooke

Olivia Cooke is not a household name, but she's got the acting chops — trust. Bates Motel, Sound of Metal, and most recently, as part of the House of Dragon series. It's time a little insane that a talent like hers hasn't made that heroic leap yet.

Johnny Depp

This one is probably because Tim Burton hasn’t directed a superhero movie since Batman.

Maude Apatow

Maude Apatow could have easily been in any of the newest Spider-Man movies alongside her Euphoria costar Zendaya.

Ncuti Gatwa

The latest actor to step into the role of Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa is booked and blessed but that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been time to book his presence in a superhero movie. They would be so lucky to have him.

Emma Watson

Emma Watson

Emma Watson already played one of the most beloved characters of all time, so maybe she didn’t want to take away from Hermione, but to not see her as another incredible heroine seems criminal.

Kendra Beltran went to college with no game plan and found herself falling back on her love of writing soon after graduating all the way back in 2009. Since then, she's written for MTV Geek, Cosplay Central, Collider, Apartment Therapy, and many other sites that allowed her to showcase her love of all things pop culture.
