Cate Blanchett, Ben Stiller teaming up for ‘The Champions’ film

We’re always here for a Cate Blanchett period piece.

Anyone who watched Blanchett slay in "Carol" is especially excited for this news, as the two-time Oscar-winning actress is joining forces with Ben Stiller to revive 1960s espionage television series "The Champions."

“'The Champions' movie, paying homage to the TV show from Dennis Spooner, follows three United Nations agents whose plane crashes into the Himalayas,” Variety relayed. “Upon being rescued by an advanced civilization secretly living in Tibet, they are granted enhanced intellectual and physical abilities. When the agents return to the outside world, they use their new superhuman abilities to become champions of law, order and justice.”

Blanchett and Stiller will star opposite each other, while Stiller will additionally direct the film. Both of them will serve as producers.

Previously, Stiller was announced in February to be directing and co-writing Focus Features’ adaptation of Rachel Maddow’s “Bag Man” podcast about the bribery and extortion ring run by Spiro Agnew, vice president to Richard Nixon, and the scandal that ensued in 1973.

Blanchett can next be seen in Adam McKay’s sci-fi dramedy "Don’t Look Up" when it hits select theaters and Netflix next month. Watch the teaser trailer below.
