Conan O'Brien is wrapping his TBS late-night talk show Conan on Thursday (June 24), and the 58-year-old is already dreading the down time he'll have before he launches a weekly HBO Max variety show.
Luckily for O'Brien, Seth Rogen was his guest for Tuesday night's (June 22) show and knew exactly what to recommend: "I would suggest—this is gonna be hilariously on-brand—try smoking a lot of weed for a long time. Try it! You seem like someone who doesn't smoke a lot of weed."
O'Brien confirmed that, indeed, he does not smoke "any weed" because "I enjoy my lucidity," and the past few times when he did try it, "nothing really happened."
Rogen, who launched his Canadian cannabis company Houseplant in the U.S. this March, would not be deterred and pulled a freshly prepared joint out of his shirt pocket. The 39-year-old actor, comedian, filmmaker and weed aficionado cautioned O'Brien to take just one hit for "a really good time."
The crowd began chanting "Conan!"
"This is the kind of thing you do when you know it's over for you," O'Brien said.
And then he, Rogen and Andy Richter each took a hit.
Before you get cynical that this was a planned bit, Rogen confirmed on Twitter that it was "a surreal and shocking moment for me and was genuinely unplanned":
I smoked weed with @ConanOBrien his show and was legit terrified that I got him too high haha. (This was a surreal and shocking moment for me and was genuinely unplanned) https://t.co/0twpCHgTUw

That was obviously the pinnacle of Rogen's Conan appearance—maybe they should have saved him for the series finale—but he did also discuss his wildly popular memoir Yearbook (released May 11), including an anecdote about working with Snoop Dogg.
