The first teaser for Deadpool 3 is here, and we finally have an official title for the film. Marvel Studios has opted for a simple, clean title of "Deadpool & Wolverine" which will see Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman team up in their comic-accurate suits while navigating the MCU.

The teaser begins with Wade Wilson celebrating his birthday with Vanessa, Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and most of the cast from Deadpool 2. After making a wish, the TVA (from Loki) rings the bell, greeting Wade with their signature time sticks. “Pegging isn’t new for me, friendo, but it is for Disney," Wade exclaims before getting dragged out as we, the audience, breathe a sigh of relief that the film won’t shy away from its R-rating.

Wade wakes up in a TVA room with Matthew Macfadyen’s Paradox seemingly inviting him to join the MCU. After proclaiming himself to be “Marvel Jesus”, we see a cool montage of Deadpool fighting bad guys in front of the ruins of a broken 20th Century Fox logo, a sneaky look at Wolverine’s “Patch” alter-ego, and a cameo from Aaron Stanford’s Pyro. The teaser’s final shot sees Deadpool in a brawl with Wolverine in his classic yellow suit.

Along with the first look, Marvel has also released a new teaser poster for the film, featuring Deadpool and Wolverine's masks coming together to form the shape of a heart. Marvel still hasn’t released an official synopsis for the film, but Marvel’s Japanese website revealed this small snippet a few weeks ago: “The irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?”

The Shawn Levy-directed film will be the only Marvel Studios theatrical release this year, with the rest of the year being covered by Sony and Warner Bros . With most of Marvel’s recent output failing to cater to critics and audiences alike, Deadpool & Wolverine is in a unique position to offer something unique. That fact doesn’t seem lost on Kevin Feige and the film’s writers, as the teaser reveals the film will lean into it quite heavily. Perhaps we’re getting the opposite of “Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe”, which the MCU desperately needs right now.

Deadpool & Wolverine releases on July 26, 2024.
