Details about 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' final season revealed

When Ellen DeGeneres announced in May her acclaimed eponymous daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, would end in 2022, it felt far enough away to not be real.

Well, the 19th and final season is premiering in 10 days, and details are starting to emerge.

According to Deadline, the 15-time Emmy winner will return to a fully vaccinated audience—the show's first full studio audience since the pandemic began—and all the celebrity guests anyone could need:

"Jennifer Aniston, who was the show’s very first guest in 2003, will kick off the show with Jimmy Kimmel, while Kim Kardashian West will sit down for the first time since ending Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Tiffany Haddish and Imagine Dragons during the premiere week. Other guests will include Melissa McCarthy, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Julianne Moore, and Melissa Etheridge.

"DeGeneres is set to walk down memory lane during the final season, checking in on many of the human interest stories that she shared as well as reminiscing about past celebrity appearances."

As mentioned, Aniston was DeGeneres' inaugural guest:

DeGeneres celebrated the show's 3,000th episode in late April:

However, not even two weeks later, the 63-year-old went from celebratory to somber when confirming that the show was coming to its close days after breaking the news with The Hollywood Reporter:

DeGeneres then adamantly denied that her dwindling ratings and toxic workplace allegations from the previous summer were the reasons she was deciding to walk away during a sit-down interview with TODAY's Savannah Guthrie that aired the next day:

Per Deadline, last season's ratings fell 40 percent from the previous year.

Season 19 will premiere Sept. 13.
