J.K. Simmons won’t play Omni-Man in the upcoming live-action Invincible movie, but he knows who should.

That actor is Hugh Jackman, who Simmons says would be perfect in the role as the all-powerful star of Prime Video’s animated superhero series.

Admitting that “I don’t think a 70-year-old Omni-Man is what I would want to see in the movie,” Simmons tells ScreenRant. “I'm not going to lie, you're not the first person to ask this question, and the first time I kind of fumbled around for a minute, and then I thought 'Oh, Hugh Jackman.'

The Australian actor is no stranger to superheroes, having played Marvel character Wolverine since 2000’s X-Men. He's set to star in upcoming blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine, which launches 26 July, 2024.

Simmons says, however, that “this is completely me off the top of my head, and I hope I'm not annoying any of the people who are actually going to be doing that job.”

While a live-action adaptation of Invincible is in the works, Amazon has yet to make an official announcement. No one has been cast, but the plot is expected to parallel Invincible season one's storyline.

Currently in its second season on Prime Video, the show follows Mark (Steven Yeun), a young superhero struggling against turning into his tyrant father, the fearsome Omni-Man.

Simmons also commented on that viral photo of him looking obscenely muscled from a few years ago, and describes his workout routine. “Well, we've seen how jacked I could get eight or nine years ago, and since I have not dipped into the marvel of modern medical science in efforts to get jacked, I just eat protein and lift weights.”
