Louis C.K. is set to embark on stand-up comedy tour after sexual misconduct allegations

Louis C.K. is still trying to revive his comedy career.

According to Deadline, the 53-year-old actor, comedian and filmmaker will begin a 50-date U.S. stand-up comedy tour at Madison Square Garden's Hulu Theatre in New York City on Aug. 13. The tour will snake through 30 cities before ending in Boston on Dec. 11, and then C.K. will tour Europe.

Deadline relayed the contents of an email C.K. sent out announcing the tour before he officially listed tour dates on his website:

“Hello Person that you are being right now,” he began the email, obtained by Deadline. “I am writing to you today because I am going to be touring around the United States of America, performing stand-up comedy in theaters in several different cities.”

Acknowledging that Covid “is still a factor around the country and world,” C.K. notes, “We will see how this goes. Our intention is to do every show we can do. We will comply with the local governments of each city in terms of health standards and practices. Like everyone else, we will just do our best under the circumstances.”

The six-time Emmy-winning actor, writer and producer concludes: “I’m really looking forward to seeing your faces as I tell some rather impolite jokes and stories.”

C.K.'s career crumbled when the New York Times published five women's disturbing sexual misconduct allegations against him dating back to 2002.

"These stories are true," C.K. acknowledged the day after the New York Times story published (h/t Deadline). "At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my d—k without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your d—k isn't a question. It's a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly."

C.K.'s first public appearance and performance following the controversy came in the form of an unexpected set at the Comedy Cellar in New York City in late August 2018.
