The first part of 'Ozark' Season 4 debuts at No. 1 on Netflix

It might have been wise to space out watching the first seven episodes of Ozark's fourth season once they hit Netflix on Jan. 21, considering it is the final season and morsels of Ozark are more precious than ever, but that was clearly not the approach anybody took.

"The first half of the final season of the Jason Bateman-led drama landed at No. 1 on Netflix’s English-language TV Top 10 list for the week of Jan. 17-23, with 77 million hours viewed in just its first three days," Variety relayed. "Coming in second place was The Boys executive producer Rebecca Sonnenshine’s horror series Archive 81, which racked up 71 million hours viewed in its second week after launch, an impressive rise after debuting at No. 7 on the list last week."

It had been announced in June 2020 that Ozark's fourth and final season would be split into two parts, with seven episodes apiece.

Around the drop of the first seven episodes last Friday, Bateman stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live:

"The second seven [episodes] will be on at a date yet announced, but it will kind of soon, I think," the Primetime Emmy winner told Kimmel.

Bateman added: "I hope you guys are [as] excited by how the plane lands as we are."

Along with directing and executive producing the crime drama, Bateman stars as Marty Byrde. Marty starts out as a crooked Chicago-based financial adviser but quickly devolves into a dark criminal at the core of a money-laundering scheme that requires his family to relocate to the Lake of the Ozarks.

Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Lisa Emery, Charlie Tahan, and more, also star.
