The Taylor Swift effect has a massive impact on NFL 2024 Salary Cap
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The National Football League gained a lot of new fans this past season. And much of that was due to one famous pop star's increased attendance at games.

It all began in July when Kelce explained on his New Heights podcast that he was going to shoot his shot with Taylor Swift, having made a special friendship bracelet for her. However, he was never able to give it to her at the concert and expressed his disappointment on the show.

A few months later, the rumors of their new romance picked up and in late September, the singer arrived at Arrowhead Stadium for the first of what would become many Chiefs games. And from there, more and more of her fans started tuning into games hoping to catch a glimpse of the singer.

And now all the NFL teams can thank Swift based on the latest reports.

The NFL announced on Friday that the 2024 Salary Cap number will be "$255.4 million per club, with an additional $74 million per club payment for player benefits," according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

"The unprecedented $30 million increase per club in this year’s Salary Cap is the result of the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic as well as an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season," Pelissero added.

The word choice Pelissero used makes things clear that much of this was caused by Taylor Swift.

He explained it as an "extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season."

That included the Super Bowl becoming the most telecast in history, with an average of 123.4 million viewers watching across all platforms.

In total, more than more than 200 million viewers tuned in at some point for the game to see the Chiefs claim another ring.

Swift has helped draw in viewership, with many people across the world getting into football this year due to her relationship with Kelce. And her attendance at their games this year has encouraged them to learn the rules.

So when it came to the Super Bowl, people were willing to stay up and watch in the middle of the night from Dubai, South Africa, Morocco, Poland, Sri Lanka and many other places.

However, what's truly funny is that she was shown on the broadcast for only 54 seconds, which was less than one percent of the entire thing.

But they didn't care. Any excuse to catch a glimpse of her and see her was enough.

And along with more viewership, jersey sales skyrocketed this season, with Swifties wanting to represent Kelce and the Chiefs.

So the NFL better be thanking Swift for the increased revenue that has led to a much higher cap space number.
