One of the longest-running sitcoms in history, what are the Top 10 episodes of Married with Children of all-time?
Married with Children first premiered on FOX on April 5th, 1987, and ran for a total of 262 episodes until 1997. The show stars Ed O’Neil as Al Bundy, Katey Sagal as Peggy Bundy, Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy, and David Faustino as Bud Bundy.

The show follows the Chicago lives of Al Bundy, a once-glorious high school football player turned hard-luck women’s shoe salesman; his lazy wife, Peggy; their pretty and dim-witted daughter, Kelly; and their smart-aleck son, Bud. The show also prominently features their neighbors, the stuffy Steve Rhoades; his wife Marcy, who Al finds annoying; and later, Marcy’s second husband Jefferson D’Arcy, a white-collar criminal who becomes her “trophy husband” and Al’s sidekick.
It was an especially raunchy show that took a lot of heat during its run including, infamously, a person in Michigan who attempted to get the show boycotted but failed. Ultimately, the show ran for 11 seasons, so, what are the Top 10 episodes of Married with Children of all time?

10. Who’ll Stop The Rain? (S4E13)
Al’s ego is on full display as well as Ed O’Neil’s comedic abilities as he tries to fix a leaky roof. Of course, this isn’t so bad given the alternative is a night in bed with Peggy. Of course, the plan goes off with many hitches and plenty of falls off the roof for Al.
9. It’s A Bundyful Life (S4E11/12)
Al joins a Christmas Club at Marcy’s bank in order to afford gifts for the family. However, a pair of late customers to the shoe store causes Al to arrive at the bank too late and he is unable to withdraw the money. In the second part, Al is visited by a guardian angel, played by comedian Sam Kinison, and he shows him what the Bundy’s would be if Al were not around.
8. He Thought He Could (S3E1)
Al discovers he still has a copy of “The Little Engine That Could” that he checked out in 1957 and when he returns it, he finds that the same librarian that tormented him as a kid was still at that very same library, 30 years later.
7. Get The Dodge Out Of Hell (S9E17)
Al’s car mysteriously disappears when he takes the family to the car wash. As it turns out, the car had been so dirty for so long that Al had forgotten what color it actually was so upon exiting the car wash, it was unrecognizable. In addition, Steve Rhoades, Marcy’s ex-husband reappears as Jefferson is starting work at the car wash.
6. If Al Had A Hammer (S6E3)
In an attempt to fulfill every male Bundy’s dream, Al begins construction on his very own room away from Peg with his dad’s hammer. Much to the surprise of the family, Al completes construction on the room only for it to be spoiled mere hours later by the wives. Meanwhile, Bud introduces us to his new alter ego, Grandmaster B, as he attempts to woo his latest interest.
5. Hot Off The Grill (S4E1)
Al puts Peggy to work on Labor Day as he hits the grill to prepare his famous “Bundy Burgers” for them and the Darcys. However, Bud and Kelly knock over the grill, spilling the ashes which act as the secret ingredient, and must replace them before Al or anyone else finds out. Unfortunately, Kelly grabs the only thing that resembles ashes from the grill… Marcy’s dead aunt’s ashes.
4. We’ll Follow The Sun (S5E1)
At the last minute, Al decides to take the family on a Labor Day road trip. Unfortunately, he didn’t take into account the fact that traffic picks up quite a bit and the family is stranded on the highway within eyesight of their house.
3. Movie Show (S7E21)
The Bundy’s all head to movies for Kelly’s birthday where hijinks ensue. Bud attempts and fails, to hit on just about any girl in the theater. Kelly discovers her boyfriend is there with another woman and Al does what he does best, beats him up.
2. 976-SHOE (S4E8)
In a desperate attempt to win a Hawaii vacation, Steve Rhoades gives Al a $50,000 loan to start a shoe hotline where women can call Al for shoe advice. Predictably, the idea is a massive flop and Marcy must bail her husband out by covering the Bundy loan by issuing a loan herself. Of course, Al goes doubles down and loses $100,000.
1. You Better Shop Around (S5E21/22)
The second two-parter on this list, the Bundy’s move into the grocery store after Al’s WWII-era air conditioner causes a blackout in their neighborhood. During their time at the grocery store, they run into the Darcy’s and eventually end up in a Shopper’s Sweepstakes style competition with Marcy and Jefferson for $1000 worth of groceries.
