"All of the biggest bands in the world started out like this," Grohl says while revving up a van.

Famed Beatles drummer Ringo Starr adds: "You gotta get in the van if you want to make it in this business."

And Starr is just one of many musical icons who will appear. Per Billboard, there will also be cameos by “[Foo Fighters] bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee and Pat Smear, as well as Ringo Starr, Flea, AC/DC's Brian Johnson, St. Vincent, Slash, Ben Harper, The Edge, X's Exene Cervenka, No Doubt's Tony Kanal, Metallica's Lars Ulrich, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and punk icons DH Peligro, Jennifer Finch, Ian Mackaye, Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and many more.”

Grohl, who put on his director hat for the project, released a statement: “This film is my love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music. What started as a project to pull back the curtain on the DIY logistics of stuffing all of your friends and equipment into a small space for months on end eventually turned into an exploration of ‘why?’ What drives us?’”

The 16-time Grammy winner previously directed documentaries Sound City (2013) and Sonic Highways (2014), and he is set to co-host an upcoming Paramount Plus six-part documentary series with his mother, Virginia Hanlon, that is based upon her 2017 book titled From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars.

If that weren't enough, Grohl and the Foo Fighters are nominated for the 2021 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Inductees will be announced in May, and the induction ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 30 at Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Foo Fighters have been a mainstay since their self-titled debut album in 1995. The group most recently released Medicine at Midnight in February.
