Over the weekend, Michigan hosted an important visitor in 2025 Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek three-star linebacker Luke Metz, and the Wolverines staff left a resounding, positive impression on the 6-3, 220-pound recruit.

“My visit to Michigan was awesome,” Metz told Wolverine Digest. “It really was first class. I met almost every coach on the staff, and they showed me a lot about their program.”

In fact, Michigan’s visit was so impactful that Metz determined he’ll be committing this Sunday, which appears to bode well for the Wolverines as his most recent visit. While it’s not a foregone conclusion that Metz picks Michigan over the weekend, the UM staff made a lot of positive headway with the lane-clogging, explosive linebacker.

“The attention to detail sticks out to me about Michigan,” Metz said. “It’s super intense and I like that. They told me all about the Natty run and it was super cool.”

Coming off of a National Championship victory, Michigan has proven a track record of developing players for the next level, and this pattern was further evidenced with the Wolverines’ 18 NFL Combine invitees. For Metz, finding the right fit with a program that will develop his talent is a key aspect of his decision, and he said he’s also looking at the conference and “how elite the team is.”

Metz top group currently consists of Michigan, LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss, so the Wolverines will be battling it out with a few SEC powerhouses.

Last season, Metz posted 51 tackles, 14 QB hits, five sacks, five tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one interceptions for the Hawks. He also moonlighted as a tight end to the tune of four receptions, totaling 41 yards.

Right now, Michigan has a three-man 2025 class with Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, Howell (Mich.) defensive lineman Bobby Kanka and Alcoa (Tenn.) tight end Eli Owens as committed players. This trio ranks No. 33 in the nation according to the 247Sports.com composite score.
