Colorado's Gage Goldberg had Signing Day surprise for WWE legend father

It's not often you can sneak up on a well-trained wrestling legend. But for Gage Goldberg, he picked the right time to get his father. After signing his letter of intent to play for Deion Sanders and Colorado, Goldberg picked up the WWE Hall-of-Famer with excitement for a viral moment.

It was national signing day at Champion and BHS.

The 6-foot, 205-pound middle linebacker from Boerne Champion (Texas) is part of 33 players coming to Boulder as part of CU Football's 2024 recruiting class. He has a special tie to Sanders having known him since he was a kid. Bill Goldberg was a teammate of Coach Prime's in the early 90s with the Atlanta Falcons. He eventually quit football and became one of the most noticeable figures in the wrestling world with WCW and eventually the WWE. Goldberg and Sanders have kept in contact through their respective legendary careers.

The Buffaloes add depth with Gage Goldberg taking a walk-on slot. He was an absolute force during his senior year with 154 total tackles (7.5 for loss), eight hurries, four forced fumble, one sack, blocked field goal, and forced safety.

Colorado has the 21st-ranked combined class in 2024, according to 247Sports. An even split with 17 players added on defense, which includes six four-star talents. It's a boost from previous classes and a great start for Coach Prime's second year in Boulder.
