Scouting Steelers: Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley
Alberto Silva Fernandez/ El Paso Times / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear content heading into the NFL Draft with a glaring need at wide receiver but luckily for them, there are a myriad of options available. One of the prospects generating day-two hype at the moment is Western Kentucky wideout Malachi Corley, who people have dubbed “the YAC king.” Corley has been the engine for the Hilltoppers offense over the past two seasons, with over 2,000 combined receiving yards and 22 touchdowns in that time frame.

SN analyst Derrick Bell breaks down his scouting report on the receiver prospect, detailing the highs and lows that exist within his game at the moment. Corley is a classic example of the evaluation versus valuation discussion and how much a coaching staff believes in their ability to develop certain skills. Pittsburgh has brought in several offensive players familiar with Arthur Smith’s system but are still lacking playmaking firepower at the skill position. Would adding Corley be enough to fulfill that need on offense?
