Taylor Swift's Coveted '22' Hat Given to Cancer Victim

Taylor Swift has made a tradition of meeting a fan during her performance of "22." In fact, so much so that fans go crazy when she starts to sing the song.  

Some lucky 'Swiftie' is chosen, and then not only do they get to meet the icon, but they also get to keep her iconic black hat. The singer made a 9-year-old "wish" come true in Sydney, Australia.

People reported that at the show on Friday, Feb. 23, the pop superstar gifted Scarlett Oliver, whose stepmother Natalie had shared her story on social media, with the treasured hat.  

Natalie had put in a request to Make-A-Wish for Scarlett to meet Swift but was told it wasn't possible. The stepmom turned to social media.

"So through the power of social media and some generous people, we made attending the concert happen and got tickets! She is attending this Friday night in Sydney!" Natalie wrote. "Scarlett is so excited and would absolutely love to receive the "22" hat from Taylor (as would everyone else, I'm sure)."

The message must have reached the right people because Scarlett got a hug and a hat.  

Scarlett faces a battle that doctors say she will not win.  In October, she was diagnosed with high-grade glioma, a very aggressive brain cancer with no cure. They estimated that the precious girl would have just 12 to 18 months to live, even with treatment.  

This is the second time Swift has gifted the "22" hat to a cancer victim. In July, Ally Anderson attended a concert in Cincinnati and was the recipient of Swift's kind gesture.  

Unfortunately, Ally died in November, but not before her life had been changed by a small gesture from a big star. The small moment in time and genuine act of kindness Swift shares with her fans demonstrates the power that lies within all of us to change the world, one act at a time.
