The Tennessee Titans added an inside linebacker to their defense by selecting LB Cedric Gray with the 106th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Tennessee added Kenneth Murray Jr. in free agency, but was in dire need of another starter at inside linebacker. Preferably one who could wear the green dot and be their defensive communicator.
Few linebackers in college football have been as productive as Gray has been over the last two seasons. From 2022-2023, Gray recorded 266 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, six sacks, and three interceptions with the Tar Heels..
Gray is a playmaker that's better suited suited playing on the weak-side in the NFL. His speed makes him adequate against both the ran and the pass, but he needs to improve his play recognition and instincts.
Missed tackles have also been a concern, but in Dennard Wilson's Titans defense that strives to make life easy for inside linebackers, I can see why the Titans like the fit.
North Carolina LB Cedric Gray was first team All-ACC last year, started in 12 games, led the team with 121 tackles. Had 11 TFLs, 5 sacks and a pick. Titans get Kenneth Murray’s running mate
