Adrian Beltre's Son In HS All-America Game

Former Texas Rangers third baseman Adrián Beltré won’t be the only Beltre participating in All-Star Week activities in Seattle.

On Wednesday the teams were named for the High School All-American Game, which is made up of the best 2024 prospects from the high school ranks.

Among the selections was Adrián Beltré Jr. He will play for the National League team as a shortstop and third baseman.

The game is July 7 at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.

The elder Beltré is a member of the NL coaching staff for the MLB Futures Game, which is scheduled for July 9 and will feature the top minor league prospects. The MLB All-Star game is July 11.

Beltré will serve as the bench coach for manager Raul Ibañez.

The Rangers learn Thursday which of their players advanced to Round 2 of All-Star Game voting. Second baseman Marcus Semien, shortstop Corey Seager, third baseman Josh Jung and outfielder Adolis García are all positioned to advance.

Beltré is already in the Rangers Hall of Fame and his No. 29 retired. He will be on the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot in January.

He hit .286 with 3,166 hits, 1,707 RBI, and 477 home runs in his 20-year career. He played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, and the final eight years with the Rangers.

He was a four-time All-Star selection, won five Gold Gloves — three of which with the Rangers — and four Silver Slugger Awards, including two with the Rangers.

He led the NL in homers in 2004.

He played five seasons with the Mariners from 2005-09, hitting .266 with 103 homers and 396 RBI. He won Gold Gloves in 2007 and 2008.
