Angels Lose Free Agent To AL Central Team

Former Los Angeles Angels infielder Mike Moustakas has left the team, agreeing to sign with the Chicago White Sox on a minor-league deal. USA Today's Bob Nightengale was the one to break the news on the signing.

Moustakas came over to the Halos last season after being acquired from the Colorado Rockies. He appeared in 65 games for the team, hitting .236 with eight home runs and 31 runs batted in.

Prior to joining the Angels, Moustakas played in 47 games for the Rockies, hitting .270 with four home runs and 17 runs batted in.

There was some thought that the Angels could bring Moustakas back for depth purposes, but the front office decided to go in a different direction. The veteran slugger now lands in Chicago, where he will likely compete for a rotating infield role or designated hitter spot.

Moustakas was a member of the 2015 World Series winning Kansas City Royals, providing them with key contributions throughout. He holds plenty of experience in the league, and we wish him well in Chicago next season.
