Brewers reliever Devin Williams added to All-Star team

It’s been announced that Brewers reliever Devin Williams has been added to the NL All-Star Team. This was reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. This is the first All-Star game for Williams.

As the set up man for Josh Hader, Devin Williams is one of the best set up men and best relievers in the league. To this point, Williams has 59 strikeouts in only 35.2 innings. He has a 1.77 ERA and also has six saves. These are mostly when Josh Hader has been unavailable. He’s been really important to the Brewers success to this point.

While I realize each team needs to have at least one All-Star, it’s unfortunate it took until three days before the game to add Williams. As arguably the best changeup thrower in the game, Williams should have been selected right away. Nonetheless, it’s great to see another Brewer added who deserve it!
