Dodgers Highlights: Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani & Will Smith Lead Offense Against Nationals

Landon Knack and the Los Angeles Dodgers got the better of a rematch with Jake Irvin and the Washington Nationals, clinching a series victory Wednesday night and putting them in position to complete a sweep.

The scoring started in the first inning when Shohei Ohtani’s hard-hit double was cashed in by Will Smith on an RBI single. That was one of Smith’s four hits in the game, which led all players.

The Dodgers added onto their lead in the second inning when Gavin Lux and Andy Pages helped turn the lineup over with a single and double, respectively, setting the table for a Mookie Betts two-run single.

After the Nationals tied the game in bottom half of the second, Max Muncy’s RBI single put the Dodgers back ahead.

It seems like every ball off Shohei Ohtani's bat surpasses the 110 mph mark.

Back-to-back hits from Smith and Muncy to start the fifth inning later led to an RBI single from Lux. Andy Pages provided more scorign in the eighth inning with the second home run of his career, and Ohtani contributed with an RBI double.

Then Ohtani, who had already extended his on-base streak to 26 games, hit another RBI double in the ninth inning. That came with two outs and provided Freddie Freeman with a final opportunity to avoid going hitless on the night as he punctuated the Dodgers’ big game with a two-run single.

That gave the Dodgers 20 hits on the night.

Landon Knack leads Dodgers pitching

In just the second start of his career, Landon Knack held the Nationals to two runs and collective five strikeouts over six innings.

Knack endured some trouble in the second inning but managed to minimize the damage. Knack retired the final 13 batters faced, with the outing mirroring his MLB debut against the Nationals.
