Ex-Mets All-Star Has Received Multiple Minor League Offers; Could Reunion Make Sense?

There still are some solid options out there in free agency who could help clubs out at the big league level. 

One intriguing player to consider is former New York Mets All-Star Noah Syndergaard. His career certainly has been altered due to injuries, but he is a bounce-back candidate. 

He only was able to make 18 total appearances last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Guardians and struggled with a 6.50 ERA and 56-to-19 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Syndergaard was much more solid in 2022 and had a 3.94 ERA in 25 total appearances with the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies. It's unclear where he will land, but he reportedly has received multiple minor league offers with invites to Spring Training, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. 

"Ex-Met Noah Syndergaard is still out there, but no indication the Mets are considering," Heyman said. "He’s been offered NRI’s (non-roster invitee), but for now he’s throwing in Dallas and hoping for a (Major League Baseball) deal."

New York is looking for more depth for the starting rotation so maybe a reunion could make sense. The Mets don't seem like they want to hand out a massive deal and that's what it would take to sign either Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery.

Syndergaard likely could be had for a cheap price. Plus, it would be a good story to see him back in town, especially if he could return to form and shine once again.

Hopefully, he will be able to find his next opportunity soon and get back on track.
