Julio Rodriguez was crowned the American League Rookie of the Year last night after a strong first season in the majors.
The Seattle Mariners rookie hit .284 with 28 home runs and 75 RBI during the regular season and helped lead the team back to the postseason for the first time in over two decades.
Rodriguez got to share the moment with his family after winning the award on Monday night.
But making the team out of spring training was not a guarantee.
When Rodriguez learned that he made the team, he called his mother to tell her the news.
MLB posted a compilation video of both heartwarming moments he got to share with his mom.

Rodriguez’s family is certainly proud of him, and the same can be said for his mother.
Rodriguez clearly has a close relationship with her in what appears to be the perfect mother and son bond.
She watched him grow up and blossom into a talented young baseball star.
She had a chance to witness all the hard work her son put in in order to achieve his goals.
And when he got the call to the majors, he got to share a beautiful moment with one of his staunchest supporters.
Fast forward several months later, and the first person Rodriguez hugged after receiving the Rookie of the Year Award was his mother.
Rodriguez and his mother have experienced a wonderful journey together.
With her support and his dedication, his dreams have come true, and he is now one of the premier talents in the game today.
