MLB All-Star bets: Don't miss these Mid-Summer Classic wagers

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. kicked off the All-Star break with an impressive victory in the Home Run Derby Monday night, and now we move to tonight’s 2023 All-Star Game from T-Mobile Park. The American League will look to continue its dominance in the event, as the AL has won nine straight All-Star Games and 21 of the last 25.

But we aren't interested in backing either team on the moneyline. Instead, let's look at some other ways to attack the All-Star Game from a betting perspective.

All-Star bets for the All-Star Game

Under 7.5 runs (-120 DraftKings)

The MLB All-Star Game has been an under bettor's best friend for years. Five of the last six games and 11 of the last 16 have gone under this total of 7.5. Hitters nowadays would rather gun for home runs than poke opposite-field singles in the All-Star Game, but they haven't had much success with that approach considering how talented the pitching is around the league.

Both teams mix in different pitchers almost every inning, too, so it's impossible to find a groove at the plate like you can in a regular-season game. We'll gladly ride the trend and take the under 7.5 runs.

Luis Arraez to record a single (+118 FanDuel)

Arraez has been the best singles hitter in MLB this season, and it hasn't really been close. The Miami Marlins All-Star is batting .383 with 126 hits this year, and 104 of those have been singles. Arraez doesn't hit for power, but he's the best in the world right now at shortening up with two strikes and taking what the pitcher gives him. We're expecting Arraez to get at least two at-bats from the sixth spot in the National League's lineup, so we're banking on one of them to end in a single.

In the news ...

Northwestern fires Pat Fitzgerald amid hazing scandal — Over the weekend, several former Northwestern players revealed disturbing allegations of widespread hazing within the football program. The university fired head coach Pat Fitzgerald on Monday. Fitzgerald served as Northwestern's football coach for 17 years and is the winningest head coach in school history.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. wins Home Run Derby — In 2007, Vladimir Guerrero won his first Home Run Derby title by defeating Alex Rios of the Toronto Blue Jays. Sixteen years later, his son followed in his footsteps. Guerrero Jr. defeated Mookie Betts, Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena Monday night to win the 2023 Home Run Derby. He was +450 to win leading up to the event.

Trail Blazers in no rush to honor Damian Lillard's trade request — Trail Blazers general manager Joe Cronin spoke to reporters Monday and preached patience in regards to an eventual Lillard trade. "If it takes months, it takes months," he said. Lillard and his team have made it clear that their preferred destination is the Miami Heat, but Portland would have to accept a discount based on the reported packages Miami can offer. Don't expect a deal to be done soon.
