Watch: Mariners' France Steals First Base of Career
USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Mariners first baseman Ty France could win a batting title someday. He's not likely to win a stolen base crown.

That said, France did steal the first base of his career on Monday night against the Los Angeles Angels. He hadn't even attempted a stolen base since his rookie year of 2019 with the Padres. He was 0-2 in his career entering Monday night.

The Mariners social media account had a little fun with the milestone.

It was a big sequence for France, who gave the Mariners a 2-1 lead in the third inning with an RBI double, and then stole the base.

The Mariners are 1-3 on the season entering Monday and if they are going to turn it around, France will continue to be a big part of it. He's a lifetime .280 hitter with a .348 on-base percentage.

He earned all-star nod in 2022 but really struggled in the second half of the season after battling through injury.

He hit .308 in the first half last year and hit .229 in the second half.

The Mariners made the playoffs in 2022 for the first time since 2001. They enter this year with World Series expectations after adding offensive pieces like Teoscar Hernandez and Kolten Wong.

The Mariners and Angels will play on Tuesday at 9:40 p.m. ET.
