Chael Sonnen Reveals Conversation With Ariel Helwani After On-Air Spat: 'I Need To Get That Apology'

Chael Sonnen and Ariel Helwani have always had a very love/hate relationship on screen with one another that often makes for some great conversations.

Sonnen's most recent appearance on The MMA Hour, however, turned into a heated argument that ended with both men not being on good terms.

Going back and forth over the success of Francis Ngannou since leaving the UFC, the argument eventually turned to Sonnen accusing Helwani of lying while also calling him multiple names.

Whether you want to believe that "The American Gangster" was doing it on purpose or not, it did seem to bother Helwani who appears to have tried to mend the bridge.

In a recent podcast appearance, Sonnen revealed that he had heard from Helwani since their live argument but, is still waiting for one crucial phrase from the journalist.

Chael Sonnen Says He Is Yet To Receive An Apology From Ariel Helwani

Forever undefeated, Sonnen isn't the kind of person to apologize first, especially not publicly when it would damage all of the points he initially made.

During the recent episode of the Weighing In podcast with John Thomson and "Big" John McCarthy, "The Bad Guy" gave the latest update on his relationship with Helwani.

Whilst he had been offered to appear in-studio on The MMA Hour in New York next week, Sonnen revealed that he wasn't able to confirm his availability as yet.

Revealing messages from Helwani since their public falling out, Sonnen said that he is still waiting for an apology that he welcomes with open arms.

"Ariel asked me if I could come on [the MMA Hour] today and I told him I'm actually going to be with John and Josh, Ariel films right now.

He said, 'Well this is kind of bothering me and I've gotten a lot of messages about it and I just think the quicker we can get back'. He said 'I'm not trying to capitalize on this, I just on a personal note', and there is something that I think is relevant which is Ariel, and this is as a Jewish person, he is under stresses right now."

"He is under emotional [stress], they did a report on CNN the other day that Jewish gun sales are at an all-time high, like through the roof. I mean, I just share that because there are some very real things that I would be very understanding to but... I need to get that apology. Like, I will accept the apology but I haven't been given the apology."
