Chris Weidman-Uriah Hall UFC fight postponed, could be part of UFC 261?

COVID-19 has once again shaken up the UFC schedule.

ESPN's Ariel Helwani reported on Friday that a middleweight bout between Chris Weidman (15-5-0) and Uriah Hall (17-9-0) set to take place at UFC 258 on Feb. 13 has been removed from the card because Weidman recently tested positive for the coronavirus.

Helwani added that UFC boss Dana White currently intends to shift the fight to the UFC 261 event on April 24. No contract for the rescheduled date has been signed, however, and the UFC could potentially hold that show in Singapore rather than at the Fight Island site on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi or at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The UFC Apex will host UFC 258.

Weidman, No. 11 in the official UFC rankings for the division, defeated Hall in September 2010 to win the Ring of Combat middleweight championship back when both were starting their professional careers. More recently, Weidman dropped two of his last three contests but prevented a potential losing streak when he beat Omari Akhmedov via unanimous decision in August.

Hall, meanwhile, is coming off three straight victories and is ranked No. 8. He stopped UFC and mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva on Oct. 31 in Silva's final fight in the promotion.
