The PFL vs. Bellator event this past Saturday in Riyadh was a huge occasion for the PFL after acquiring the Bellator promotion last year.

Its biggest event to date was set to pit some of the top fighters from both brands up against one another in a night that should have ushered in a new era for the promotion.

Though there were some spectacular highlights on the card, some have also argued that it also exposed a few of the flaws or shortcomings that the PFL is still yet to overcome.

Renowned MMA coach Javier Mendez, who has coached multiple world champions at AKA in San Jose, California, wasn't entirely impressed by the event when giving his thoughts.

Mendez Wasn't Interested In Watching PFL vs. Bellator

On the latest episode of his podcast, Mendez weighed in with his take on the PFL vs. Bellator card and the lack of buzz that he believes it generated when compared to the expectations of the UFC.

Mendez had been openly critical about the event when it was first announced having stated that he didn't even know who the PFL's current champions were.

He said that ultimately, the event was missing something in terms of pulling in interest and conversation about the fights when compared to the sport leader.

"No one's talking about these fights either, I have not heard anybody talk about them so they're not advertising right, they're not doing something that's getting people talking because I didn't hear nobody talking about it other than you and I."

Mendez continued, adding that he wasn't invested despite the big concept of the event.

"When you have two rival leagues fighting each other, champion versus champion type, you would think it would be like big but for whatever reason, it wasn't big. Even me, I wasn't even interested in watching it."
