VIDEO: UFC Legend Cub Swanson Handed Controversial Win Over Hakeem Dawodu

Cub Swanson walked up to the team of Hakeem Dawodu and seemed to be congratulating them on a victory after their fight at UFC Vegas 78. The only problem was Swanson actually won.

Dawodu seemed to be controlling the fight, out-striking Swanson early and grinding him down and controlling him up against the cage at will. In the third round, you could tell that Swanson was pushing hard trying to get the finish thinking he was down two rounds to none.

After the fight, UFC analyst and former champion Daniel Cormier asked Swanson if he thought he had done enough to win the fight and he was honest with his response.

“No. I felt like I was in the moment and I was having fun which was my plan,” Swanson said. “ I thought I took more shots, but I always beat myself up so I would have to watch it again.”

In the end, it was the 39-year-old that got his hand raised at after three hard-fought rounds, earning his 14th win in the UFC’s featherweight division ranking third all-time behind only Darren Elkins and Max Holloway.

As one of the most exciting fighters in the history of the featherweight division, Swanson is a UFC Legend regardless of Saturday night’s result. With all-time wins against Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira, his resume speaks for itself.

The decision has to be gutting for Dawodu who was visibly shocked by the decision and now has back-to-back losses.

UFC veteran and commentator Paul Felder felt for Dawodu after the loss and said there is really nothing that will give the Canadian fighter solace after the result.
