Matt DiBenedetto out at Rackley W.A.R. for final three Truck Series races

“Rackley W.A.R. has reached a decision to make a driver change for its No. 25 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) entry for the remaining three (3) events of the 2023 race season, including Talladega Superspeedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway,” the race team said in a statement. “The team, in its third year as a full-time NCTS team, sponsored by Rackley Roofing Co, Inc. and W.A.R. Shocks, will release further details of the transaction once they are finalized.”

The race team has yet to announce who will replace DiBenedetto in the No. 25 truck.

DiBenedetto, who joined Rackley W.A.R. ahead of the 2022 season after six seasons in the Cup Series, announced at the start of the playoffs he would be leaving the race team at season’s end. The 32-year-old qualified for the playoffs this season, but was bounced in the Round of 10.

Winless this season, DiBenedetto notched his first Truck Series victory in the Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2022. This season, he recorded two top 5s and 12 top 10s in 20 starts.

DiBenedetto hasn’t announced his NASCAR plans for 2024.

“After careful consideration, I have decided not to return to Rackley W.A.R. for the 2024 race season,” DiBenedetto said. “I’m very thankful to have been a part of the team’s tremendous growth over these two years. We’ve shared many accomplishments together such as the team’s first win, making the playoffs, six top-10s in a row, and much more. I’m thankful for the opportunity Rackley W.A.R., Curtis [Sutton], Willie [Allen], Chevrolet, and all our partners have given me these past two years and for believing in me.”

“I’m looking forward to what the future holds, as of right now I don’t have 2024 plans, but I am exploring all options in all series. Thank you to my dedicated and awesome fan base, as well as NASCAR and the whole industry for being able to make a career out of what I love.”
