The NASCAR nations are mourning the death of three-time Cup champions and one of the greatest racers of all time, Cale Yarborough. He passed away at the age of 86 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Yarborough’s whole family was with him at the death bead when he departed the early morning of December 31st.

Cale Yarborough is one of the blue-color racers of the sport who played a massive role in the evaluation of the sport. He spent many years of his initial days working multiple jobs to support his part-time racing ventures. The legend landed a full-time ride in the Winston Cup era with Junior Johnson, and the rest is history.

The entire NASCAR community is mourning the death. Seven-time Cup champions Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson have joined the fans by sharing their love via social media. Petty had a lot of intense battles with Cale Yarborough on the track. Johnson is the driver who broke Yarborough’s three-straight Cup win record by winning four and is the only one to do so.

Cale Yarborough was my childhood hero. What an honor to be tied with the legend for 83 Cup series wins. He was “the man” and the legacy of Cale Yarborough will forever live on. My deepest condolences to Cale’s family.

NASCAR president Jim France released a statement on Cale Yarborough’s passing

Jim France, the president of NASCAR and from the owner family of the racing body, expressed his deepest condolences via a statement. He called Yarborough one of the toughest competitors the sport has ever seen and highlighted it as the factor that made him different compared to his peers.

Cale Yarborough was one of the toughest competitors NASCAR has ever see. His combination of talent, grit, and determination separated Cale from his peers, both on the track and in the record book.

France went on to detail how much Yarborough was respected and admired by the NASCAR community for his magical performances on the track. He then offered his family’s and NASCAR’s condolences to the racing legend’s family.

He was respected and admired by competitors and fans alike and was as comfortable behind the wheel of a tractor as he was behind the wheel of a stock car. On behalf of the France family and NASCAR, I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Cale Yarborough.
