Houston Rockets Re-Sign Fan-Favorite Veteran
USA TODAY Sports

When the Houston Rockets waived Boban Marjanovic at last week’s trade deadline, their intent was to always re-sign him once they bought out of the contracts of some incoming players they traded for.

On Monday, they did just this, re-signing Marjanovic for the remainder of the season.

Houston Rockets: “Roster Update: The Rockets announced they have signed Boban Marjanović after he cleared waivers. The Rockets needed to waive Marjanović on Feb. 10 in order to complete two transactions at the NBA trade deadline.”

Marjanovic, 34, is in his eighth NBA season and has not only been a fan-favorite everywhere he has been, but one of the best locker room guys in the entire league.

Everyone always has such great things to say about Boban and his work ethic, which is why he is a valuable member of this young Rockets squad.

This season, Marjanovic has only played in 17 games for Houston, averaging 2.8 points in about 4.2 minutes per game.

He may not be someone who sees the court a lot, but every team in the league needs guys like Boban Marjanovic on their roster, especially given the positive energy he brings day-in and day-out.

Waiving him to make room for John Wall, Danny Green, Justin Holiday and Frank Kaminsky, the Rockets have already agreed to buyouts with Wall and Green. The Rockets will also be buying Holiday out of his contract as well.

Boban Marjanovic will resume his duties as one of the veteran leaders of Houston’s locker room after re-signing with the team.
